In the past, the Corncrake was a common breeding bird in Switzerland, and its distinctive call broke the silence of the night in almost all the country's pastures and wet meadows. Today, this species is in danger of extinction. That's why BirdLife Switzerland launched a conservation program for the Corncrake in 1996. Project manager Lucas Lombardo will present the project with all its challenges and explain what needs to be done to successfully protect the king of meadows.
