The 23 October 2022 TRIBUTE TO HAYDIBAY

Goodbye Haydibay! A festive day in tribute to our brown bear.

On Sunday October 23, from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm, MUZOO will be holding a festive day in tribute to our brown bear who passed away in January this year. Haydibay lived in La Chaux-de-Fonds for twenty-nine years. His presence left a lasting impression on the audience and the MUZOO teams. We wanted to pay tribute to him by offering a rich program of bear-themed activities for the general public.

The program

Opening hours: 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Come and visit Haydibay's enclosure in the company of our caretakers to discover the amazing story of this brown bear. Find out what it was like to live at the Zoo, as well as what's being planned for the future. Guided tours are free, but registration is compulsory via the link

The Bear Rally and its prizes!

Opening hours: 11:00 am to 4:30 pm

Location: throughout the zoo, follow the directions on site

Playfully discover the diversity of bear species and the links between them and the other species in the zoo? That's what this rally is all about, as you scour the park in search of clues. Are you up to the challenge of finding the right answers as quickly as possible?

"Y'en a marre!" Offbeat tale with puppet by Théâtre de La Turlutaine

Schedule: three performances from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. // from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. // from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Location: science mediation room, follow the directions on site

It's a story that begins with another story, that of a giant teddy bear found in a garbage can, which the skilled hands of La Turlutaine's puppeteers quickly transformed into a puppet. Then they gave it a voice... and what a voice! If you're expecting a classic bear story, think again!

Market in support of Animals Asia Foundation

Opening hours: 11:00 am to 4:30 pm

Location: follow the directions on site

Fun but useful, the Haydibay tribute is also an opportunity to raise money for a well-known bear conservation organization. Come and discover their commitments while strolling through the support market, which offers a selection of products, each more charming than the last. Our call for contributions did not go unanswered: Nature photographer Patricia Huguenin has prepared some pretty cards and Leporellos, artist Nicole Grédy delights us with her poetic cyanotypes produced with the feathers of some of the zoo's birds, and pupils from eight classes in La Chaux-de-Fonds have come up with an array of touching, colourful everyday objects! And lots of other surprises!

DIY

Opening hours: 11:00 am to 4:30 pm

A must-do activity with a twist! By making a bear mask, children who dress up and wear one for the opening of MUZOO on December 17 and 18 will receive a nice surprise!
