A unique approach in Switzerland
Since its creation, MUZOO has strived to raise public awareness of environmental issues in an immersive, hands-on way. By uniting the scientific collections of a museum with those of a zoo, it offers a unique and engaging educational experience.
The award also recognizes MUZOO’s ongoing efforts to reduce its ecological footprint, promote biodiversity, and involve the community in actions to protect nature.
On Saturday May 24, MUZOO was awarded the Meyvaert Prize for Ecological Sustainability at a ceremony in Białystok, Poland. This prize is awarded by the European Museum Forum to an institution that places ecology at the heart of its project.
Europe-wide recognition
At the same ceremony, the Manchester Museum (UK) was named European Museum of the Year 2025. We are proud to stand alongside such inspiring museums, and more motivated than ever to pursue our mission with passion and responsibility.
